Rack Online UPS | Double Conversion
A double conversion online UPS takes alternating current (AC) input, converts it to direct current (DC), sends it to the battery, and then reconverts it back to AC to power the connected device. In online UPS systems, the batteries are always connected to the inverter, and in case of a voltage drop or blackout, the converter disconnects from the circuit and the batteries take over, maintaining stable and fluctuation-free power supply.

A Central Power Supply System (CPSS), also known as an electric emergency power supply, differs from a standard UPS because it has specific characteristics. A CPSS is used to power emergency systems, primarily for safety lighting in public and private buildings, but also for automatic fire suppression systems, smoke extraction equipment, alarms, and carbon monoxide detection systems. In Europe, there is a standard that lists all the requirements a CPSS must meet to be used. This standard is EN 50171 “Central Power Supply Systems,” which, in addition to setting the necessary requirements, also outlines the possible configurations that can be applied to CPSS units.
