External-Bypass

External maintenance bypass

External-Bypass

The maintenance bypass is an external device to the UPS that allows for maintenance or repair/replacement of the uninterruptible power supply system without interrupting the connected load.

When operated manually or automatically, AEC’s external maintenance bypass allows the voltage to be disconnected from the UPS terminals, enabling authorized technicians to replace the batteries or perform internal maintenance on the system safely.

Advantages

Operational continuity during maintenance

The external bypass allows maintenance on the UPS without interrupting power to the critical load. It prevents unwanted blackouts and protects against potential damage caused by power interruptions.

Installation of the External Maintenance Bypass

To install an external maintenance bypass, it is essential to have a thorough understanding of the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system and its configuration.

Generally, the external maintenance bypass is installed between the UPS and the critical load.

It includes a manual switch that allows you to select the power source (either the UPS or the bypass line).
Before proceeding with the installation, it is important to ensure that the bypass is compatible with the UPS system and complies with the manufacturer’s technical specifications.

Moreover, installation should always be carried out by qualified personnel to ensure the proper operation and safety of the system.
